I really enjoy history. When I think about all the history that happened in the area that is now Mount Morris Parks I gain a real appreciation for the sacrifices that our ancestors must of had to endure. When I think about how the Native American tribes were here, and the first time that Dutch colonists came to the area, it speaks to my pioneer blood. There have been a lot of different people and nationalities that have traveled along under these same trees over the years. I wonder if any of my distant ancestors passed through this way? There was a guy named Edmund Burke back in 1790 who said: “People will not look forward to prosperity who never look backward to their ancestors.” It’s like that when I think about why Mount Morris Parks can be the best possible, because I am reminded of our history. I think its fun to look at the different styles of the buildings and imagine the time long ago when they were being built. There is a unique character to nearly everything. Imagine all the different people that have looked at the same trees that are here. I wonder how old the trees are?
